Tim Covello earns key law enforcement endorsements for Superior Court Judge
SAN LUIS OBISPO – Sitting Superior Court Commissioner Tim Covello, running for Superior Court Judge on the June 5 ballot, has secured the endorsements of the Sworn Deputy Sheriff’s Association and the San Luis Obispo Police Officers Association.
Covello is running to fill the Superior Court judicial seat being vacated by Judge Barry LaBarbera. Voting by mail begins May 7.
These two law enforcement associations join the Arroyo Grande Police Officers Association, Grover Beach Police Officer’s Association, Paso Robles Police Officers Association, Pismo Beach Police Officers Association and the San Luis Obispo Police Staff Officers Association.
In addition, 29 judges have endorsed Covello, including 18 sitting Superior Court Judges, Court of Appeals Justice Martin J. Tangeman, and 10 retired judges and justices.
“I’m proud to have the support of these peace officers, our first responders who put themselves on the line for us in times of crisis without a second thought,” Covello said. “They’re essential to our community and their support of my campaign is greatly appreciated.”
Covello currently serves as Commissioner for the Superior Court. He’s presided over civil small claims, traffic, family treatment court, juvenile truancy and infractions, juvenile drug court, misdemeanor criminal matters and mentally disordered offender trials.
Prior to joining the court as Commissioner, he served 23 years as a prosecutor, including more than seven years as Chief Deputy District Attorney and Assistant District Attorney for the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office.
